    Typical Emigration Routes

Immigration legislation is complex…the process of obtaining any form of visa or work permit is fraught with problems and the documentation can be daunting. Most countries have numerous categories of visas, permits or ‘Points Tests’ providing legal entrance and residence, all of which are dependent on an applicant’s individual circumstances. Timing and attention to detail is also of the essence to avoid rejection and disappointment..Our role is to identify your best personal route option to a new life abroad then make it happen. In most cases, you will need a visa or work permit before you can live in Australia, USA, Canada or New Zealand
Here is a general summary of typical routes – although the practical details vary for each country. Clearly employment income is the prime initial consideration being vital to your own financial security and peace of mind in embarking upon a new life abroad.

    Employment
If your skills and experience are compatible with the requirements of employers in your chosen destination, you will have a clear advantage. However, you will usually need to obtain a vital job offer before you apply. Note that the accepted format for CV’s differs from country to country. We always liaise with your future employer to ensure your job offer meets with every requirement of your visa. If you need to comply with any other regulations - such as the need for licensing or accreditation by a professional or trade body - we will also prepare all the necessary paperwork on your behalf.

Finding a new job completely from scratch is not easy, especially without detailed knowledge of the current and changing employment opportunities by country and region. Often you will not know where your specific skills and experience may be in demand. Employers may also take some convincing that you are serious about your relocation plans; as you will be perceived as high risk with many factors outside the employers’ control that could go wrong.Employers or recruitment agencies recruiting generally have little detailed knowledge of immigration legislation and will be reluctant to tackle the paperwork and bureaucracy involved in securing your visa.

    Business
This route may be suitable to pursue if you have reached the stage in life where you want more control over your own destiny. You will need a successful business track record and be prepared to play an active role in setting up and running a new enterprise or becoming a partner in one.

    Investment
To be eligible for entry with this route you will need to be willing to make certain types of visa qualifying investment, or perhaps transfer a sum of money to your chosen country for a specified period of time. The rules usually disregard age or career background….so this route is ideal if you are retired or approaching retirement or have no desire to work abroad. Each country has different investment-linked migration policies and threshold requirements.

    Family
If you have family connections abroad, these can also help with your visa application in certain instances depending on your unique personal circumstances. There are many variations within each category of migration and the ideal route for one country may not be feasible at all for another.

    Other
Some countries have other categories such as Student visa, Working Holiday Visas or Long stay business visa (say up to 4 years). We can provide specific advice.Your next step?
