    Why Emigrate to The USA?

The United States of America is a favourite immigration destination and is still considered “a land of opportunity”. The USA is about one-half the size of Russia; about three-tenths the size of Africa; about one-half the size of South America (or slightly larger than Brazil); slightly larger than China; about two and one-half times the size of Western Europe.

The USA enjoys a dynamic economy, high work ethic and the world's most ethnically diverse population. Its increasing popularity as a holiday destination has created a very high demand to live there permanently. The standard of living of most Americans is among the highest in the world…and most people feel that they are personally responsible for their own success. Workers tend to be more mobile and labour costs more flexible than in Western Europe…US firms for example find it easier to expand capital plant, lay off surplus workers, and develop new products. The US has the most technologically powerful, diverse, advanced, and largest economy in the world. US firms are at or near the forefront in technological advances, especially in computers and in medical, aerospace, and military equipment.

In this market-oriented economy, the importance of job status and corporate culture is growing and conforming to company culture in the larger firms is important. Americans are extremely generous and hospitable people and welcome newcomers into their community. However, with such a large country and diverse population, customs vary, although ethnic and religious origins are usually ignored. Many Americans are very keen on self-improvement and evening classes.

The country affords every kind of interest to residents and visitors alike, from winter sports to tropical beaches. Natural wonders include the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and the protected national parks of the north-west and Florida. The United States is not a classless society and whilst alcoholic drinks may be offered at business and social gatherings, many Americans do not drink. Smoking has become a minority habit and is prohibited in virtually all commercial and pubic buildings, on public transport and including, in New York City, many restaurants and all the sports stadiums and zoos. In the Eastern States, especially, people tend to be more formal and smart dress is excepted at high-quality restaurants. This contrasts with California where a much more casual dress-code operates.

The most popular sports are baseball, American football, basketball and volleyball. Athletics, golf, tennis, boxing, and horse racing are also widely followed. The USA has over 1,200 symphony orchestras, several famous opera companies, lively theatre with travelling companies visiting even the smaller towns, and some of the world's best jazz, folk and popular music groups. City nightlife varies from State to State.

Education is still largely the concern of the individual states and practices and polices differ throughout the country. Housing accommodation is usually either a flat (condominium) in the centre of town or a house / bungalow with garden (yard) in the suburbs, the choice depending on personal preference, family circumstances, proximity to the place of work etc. Most property is let unfurnished, although a fully fitted kitchen equipped with appliances including a washer and dryer would normally be included. Apartment blocks have a laundry room with large washing and drying machines which are coin-operated, and a swimming pool. Rented furnished accommodation will include a wide range of modern household appliances, and all will have central heating air-conditioning units.

The early history of the United States of America is one of discovery and colonisation by the European maritime powers, led by Britain, Spain and France. The United States occupies a continent and has many varied regions. Over the course of several centuries, immigrants from all over the world came to the United States and brought their own cultures and traditions. The tradition of immigration continues today, creating vital new American communities. The blending of these traditions gives the United States its great strength as a nation. The same mixture creates challenges and problems.

United States of American immigration law is a daunting, complex subject, and few are ever prepared to navigate the process alone. That's why professional representation makes all the difference.
